For the greater good, in the key of……

A conversation with some folks about ‘the greater good’ brought a familiar knot to my gut. Do you ever feel it, too? Feel the ‘shields going up’ kind of reaction? Why is that?

Happens when I am presented with something that somehow feels like it is going to cost me something and I’m not sure what. At times it feels like I am being asked to take on a new belief, or worse, exchange mine for theirs.

Ode to waking at 3:30 a.m.

It is 3:30 a.m. and I am wide awake. Not a surprise since I do this often. I understand that many people wake up at this time in order to meditate. I don’t want to ‘clear’ my thoughts away, however.

This is actually one of my favorite times of day…or is it still night? I call it a new day. Now, I wouldn’t set my clock to awaken me at this hour…you can only take ‘favorite’ so far!

It isn’t that I’m now all charged up and ready to tackle this day…that’s all about DOING something else, as if this early morning’s reverie isn’t acceptable.

A bit of this and that.

Regular news this morning, where the usual financial philosophers are arguing for and against the decisions being made to rescue the world economy. It’s too early to say who is winning or making a difference yet, or even if the economy needs rescuing any more. Maybe we are experiencing a new paradigm in economics, I don’t know.

Spring brings thoughts of roses.

Yesterday I was shuffling through some old papers, organizing an odds-and-ends drawer where I sometimes put things I planned to handle later.
I came across an envelope that I had almost forgotten about. I opened it with the expectation of finding some old birthday and Father’s Day cards from any of my four children.
