I think I know. Need more?

Did Descartes really mean, “I am, therefore I think.” Might be more accurate. (I think)

There are definitely times in my life when I feel a need to know for sure, instead of what others may ‘think.’

I’m not referring to those times when I actually ask, “What do you think?” At those times, I am quite open to pure opinion, and am more tuned to the common usage of thinking as ‘hammering away at’ or ‘pounding one’s brain’ or ‘running it up the flagpole and seeing if anyone salutes!’ Continue reading

If I don’t judge, who will I be?

Having spent a bit of time over the past week, flipping TV channels, looking for some mentally uplifting programs from which I could learn something new, I was again overwhelmed with the amount of TV gossip we are exposed to. We are definitely enveloped in a world where TV and other media are obsessed with personal scandal.

Okay, I have to confess that I parked myself in front of these programs, too.

Broken resolutions? Take a mulligan!

The New Year has begun, and yes, some of us even made a few resolutions. Well, maybe we were coaxed to do it. Maybe some of our friends have been waiting all year to use the excuse of the resolutions to ‘suggest’ it is time for some of us to ‘get more active’, for example?

Is it an automatic response to the year end, to publicly agree to follow the advice of those friends? Maybe it is about agreeing in order to ‘look good’ or be a good citizen? I can recognize a bit of that! Mostly, they give me the appearance that I am resolute in my resolutions!

Past moments of present love.

What a great year it has been! I have learned so much, including this new hi-tech way of connecting to my family, friends and everyone who has stopped in and visited richmatters.com in 2009.

It has shown me that there are so many ways that we can be a part of one global community. We speak of this one-ness and find it so difficult to truly understand how closely we are a part of each other’s lives.
