Is this the way to get to…..??

Am back home in the Great White North after several weeks in the California sun!

After the shock of trading sand for snow, I’m spending time getting into a routine that works for my life for the next several months. This includes re-assessing my personal library, reading new perspectives on things, and seeking those who are outside the status quo and listening to their concepts.

My comment today will be very short and there is more pertinent stuff swirling around my head, for a later post.

It was very interesting to spend the past weeks among folks who are actually engaged in, and severely affected by, the present financial struggle to re-invent their Country or County. (Yes, we Canadians are slowly being forced into the game, ready or not.)

While so much concern is happening on the playing field, I’ve heard and read so many who are considered to be experts in providing suitable support. There appear to be as many sides of the task as there are these so-called experts, publicly stating their remedies. So, what the heck is an expert, anyway?

For today, as I watch the efforts at reconstructing the world economy, I am left with the words of John Stuart Mill……

 ‘When Society requires to be rebuilt, there is no use in attempting to rebuild it on the old plan. No great improvements in the lot of mankind are possible, until a great change takes place in the fundamental constitution of their modes of thought.’

Seems that we have an opportunity here to create something very new and refreshing, and it has required that we pull our heads out of the sand.
Sometimes it isn’t about having ready answers but about asking the right questions so we are stimulated to think for ourselves. Good questions usually demand a new level of authenticity, and that would really matter!
