I was invited to a friend’s house for dinner and to meet a very nice, musical couple who were his guests.
“You never know where your music is going to take you,” said Bob, sitting at the piano, and he began to play a song he had newly written. He had returned from a fishing trip to the Queen Charlotte Islands and had to express the moment, as a writer or song-writer must. Sharing images of the rippling ocean in early morning, with magical mists shrouding nearby mountains. His words reached out to embrace the wonder he felt as, ‘the sun breaks through the clouds in shafts of gold and silver misty shrouds.’
Anyone who has given even a small part of his life to the Muse of Music will have faced that wonder. When it will show itself in one place or another, it doesn’t really matter. But it will. The Muse only wants that there be music, in its infinite forms, and it only matters that we express it when it nudges us, if we just be open to its urging. So, where will your music take you today?
But it’s also a bit more than that, as I have noted in my own life journey…..so far.
When you take the music that’s inside and express it outwardly, then your own journey is shaped in a special way. It is now a part of the whole community, and the community vibrates with new life, with emotion as it were, because of it. So you have mattered in my life journey.
I recently read a couple present-day authors who refer to a ‘field of consciousness’, or to a ‘matrix’ in which we all live. Common to us all, like a Universal Mind, our souls draw from, or add to this matrix. Inside it, there exists ‘form’ and this includes music, so music must be a vibration in the matrix, and/or in the field of consciousness……..and I don’t want to get entangled in the science of it all! A generally simplistic sense is all I require in order to include it in my life.
When we draw from this field, it is like a ripple in the matrix. When we add to it, and we do when we are in the midst of emotional circumstances, it ripples again. When it is rippling, it is available to all others. I don’t understand any of the physics (quantum physics, I am told) but I like the idea that we affect the whole community when we express ourselves. Or when we ‘ripple the matrix.’
The matrix is my understanding of the ‘butterfly flapping its wings’ phenomenon. So, when you cause the matrix to ripple, I can be the beneficiary of your experience. What matters is that we are given the nudge to express a part of us that we may have suppressed for any number of reasons.
I like it that there is something that urges me towards more of my real life, towards something that I love.
So, if anyone has a sudden sense of the beauty of the ocean and misty morning mountains, it’s because Bob sat down and played it into the matrix. It mattered that he did that.
