The world is in upset. Is it because we are aligning ourselves with ideology and missing the humanity?
When I’m right, who is left?
When I wrote this sentence, I realized that it is complete in itself and can elicit many thousands of words in interesting discussion. I was going to let it be, on its own, just as it was written. But I wanted to make sure my own perspective was known. The ‘right’ one!
So, does it mean that ‘if I am right, then others are wrong?’
Does it mean ideologically that ‘if I am ‘on the right’ then others are ‘on the left?’
Does it mean left and right handedness?
None of that stuff really matters. Yeah, it’s valid, and yet, we could go on about our daily routines and not notice anything profound about the statement. Unless…..
Have you ever felt a diminishing in personal presence when you are around some folks? Does it feel that you barely exist? What folks? Simple – those that are ‘right.’ Right? Yes, those who can speak no error. So, you feel spoken ‘at’ and not spoken ‘with.’
When I am right, others do not exist.
When I am right, there is only me.
When I am right, no one is left!
It matters that we exist. One of the most important desires in life is to be known and to leave some kind of mark that says ‘I was here.’
So, it matters that our communications end with the other person ‘being heard’ or, as I like to say, ‘being given their existence.’ That would matter a lot. It is sometimes a matter of life and death.
